take the scenic route
I paint things that make me feel present. Sometimes that’s a scene so obviously striking that I want to stop and learn every color and angle. Sometimes it’s something small or unassuming that could be easily passed by but for some reason pulled me in. Those are often my favorites.
In a world that revolves around immediacy and technology, I think anything that brings us back to the present and the simplicity of appreciating our surroundings feels restorative, grounding, and even a bit rebellious (sorry I can’t doomscroll right now Meta, I’m busy staring at these two pumpkins for 3 hours straight).
My hope for my work is that it can be a small reminder for you to look closer, enjoy longer, and notice new beauty in your own life.
